APPLICATION INFORMATION
In support of the continued growth and development of Old Dominion University, and to facilitate the goal of a pedestrian-friendly campus, Freshmen Residents are not allowed to park vehicles on campus. Exceptions to this policy may be granted at the discretion of the Department of Transportation & Parking Services (TPS).
A Freshman Resident is defined as a student living on-campus who is in their first year of college. Non-traditional Freshmen (21 years or older) do not fall under this policy. Commuter Students do not fall under this policy.
Freshman Residents who can demonstrate a need or who would suffer undue hardship due to the restriction on residential freshmen parking can petition for a waiver. Waiver requests must be approved prior to bringing the vehicle to campus. If approved, the student will be able to purchase a Resident Parking Permit for the academic year or semester.
Submitting a request for a waiver does NOT guarantee approval. Acceptance of the request by Housing & Residence Life does NOT signify a commitment to approve the waiver.

If your waiver is approved, you will be able to purchase an ODU Parking Permit. Residential parking permits are only valid in designated locations on campus. Please review the Parking Rules and Regulations to determine where your permit is valid.
Students under consideration for an exception may not bring a vehicle to campus until permit purchase is approved. However, visitor parking options including Metered Parking (hourly rate) and Daily Permits ($8/day, purchased in advance online) are available.
*Any vehicle parking on campus without a valid ODU Parking Permit or meter payment is subject to citation.*
