Intent to Enroll Application: Ph.D. in Education (Counseling) Program

Intent to Enroll Application: Ph.D. in Education (Counseling) Program

A requirement in the program is to complete an Application of Intent to Enroll in Practicum or Internship to be approved by the Clinical Coordinator prior to registering for practicum and internship courses. Per one's Plan of Study (POS), submission of an Intent to Enroll application is pertinent for each anticipated semester of practicum or internship involvement. If deciding to postpone the start of practicum or internship to a later semester after submitting the Intent to Enroll application, a new application submission will be necessary to reflect any updates or changes in one's potential practicum or internship semester.

Annual Due Dates for the Practicum and Internship Intent to Enroll Application(s):
• February 1 for Fall semester approval
• August 1 for Spring and Summer semester approval

The Intent to Enroll application(s) are to be approved by the Clinical Coordinator before one receives clearance to register for practicum and internship courses. Otherwise, one will be administratively dropped/withdrawn from the practicum or internship course if registering for the course prior to: (a) submitting the Intent to Enroll application and (b) receiving registration approval. Given the length of time, learners are encouraged to begin the site search for a practicum mental health counseling placement site before approval of the practicum or internship Intent to Enroll application.

Gentle note: The Intent to Enroll application is essential to ensure that the Counseling program offers enough practicum and internship course sections each semester. Due to CACREP standards limiting the number of students in practicum and internship to 12 trainees per section, the Counseling program is unable to add nor accommodate additional practicum and internship course seats if learners miss the Intent to Enroll process for a particular semester.
