College of Health Sciences Outstanding Doctoral Mentor Award

Description

This award is to recognize an employee within the College of Health Science who mentors doctoral students. The awardee should have demonstrated a sustained record of doctoral mentorship for the College of Health Sciences.


Eligibility

 Only current, tenured, graduate faculty, who supervise doctoral students and who have been employed by the College of Health Sciences for at least five years are eligible.

 The nominee must be currently supporting graduate education through teaching, service on graduate committees, and sponsorship of student research.

 Nominations will be accepted from current or former graduate students, faculty members, department chairs, graduate program directors, advisors, and administrators. Individual faculty members may nominate themselves.

 The nominee must not have received the COHS Outstanding Doctoral Mentoring Award during the previous five years.

Application Materials:

1. Completed nomination form
2. Letter of nomination from chair of department.
3. Two letters of support: The support letters must be from graduated students.
4. Curriculum vitae
5. Personal statement on mentoring (no more than 1 page, double spaced)
6. Document outlining work done in support of mentees
7. Document outlining work done in collaboration with mentees, including publications, grant proposals, etc.


Submission and Deadline:

All materials should be converted into ONE PDF file and emailed to the COHS Administrative Center (COHSAdmin@odu.edu) by July 15, 2024.

Please do not submit files separately or send hard copies. It is the nominator’s responsibility to submit the requested materials by the deadline. The committee will only consider application materials requested above.

Awards:

The awardee will receive a certificate of recognition with $500.
