Eligibility
• The Program is available to all ODUGlobal degree-seeking students enrolled in an upcoming or current semester. This includes students enrolled in an academic certificate program.
• Priority is given to students who have filed a FAFSA and demonstrated financial need.
• Participation is subject to approval based on application submission and laptop availability.
• For continuing students, participant must be in good standing with ODU without disciplinary holds. *

Loan Period
• Laptops are loaned on a term-to-term basis.
• Students must maintain continuous enrollment and abide by the terms and conditions herein to keep the laptop for the next term.
• To keep the laptop for the next term, students must complete the Future Laptop Needs Form by the "Exams end" date in ODU’s academic calendar and be enrolled for the following term (i.e., the following Spring term for Fall loan periods and the following Fall term for Spring loan periods).
• Students who drop or withdraw from all ODU classes during the loan period must complete the Future Laptop Needs Form within 5 business days of their withdrawal/drop and must follow instructions for returning the laptop. Failure to return the laptop on time may result in penalties, including holds on student accounts.
• Students who will not enroll at ODU for the next term, to include students graduating from ODU during the current term, must complete the Future Laptop Needs Form by the "Exams end" date in ODU’s academic calendar and follow instructions for returning the laptop. Failure to return the laptop on time may result in penalties, including holds on student accounts. *

Laptop Specifications and Usage
• A limited number of Lenovo laptops with Lenovo’s Premier Support Plus plan are available.
• Students must not install unauthorized software or modify system settings.
• Laptops are not for personal use; they are provided and shall be used for ODU coursework only. *

Privacy and Data Protection
• No tracking software is installed on these laptops.
• Upon return, the university wipes all data and resets it to factory settings.
• If a student violates ODU’s Information Technology Standard 09.1.0: Acceptable Use Standard, the Code of Student Conduct, or Information Technology Standard 02.13.0, ODU may request the return of the laptop and review data. *

Laptop Distribution and Return Process
• Approved students will be notified via their student email by early August each Fall term and early January each Spring term, assuming applications are submitted well in advance of these dates.
• Laptops will be shipped in early August or early January with shipping costs covered by ODU.
• Students must keep all original packaging and paperwork for the return shipment.
• Students no longer eligible for the Program must complete the Future Laptop Needs Form and ship the laptop within 5 business days of receiving the return label. *

Return Checklist
• Locate the original packaging and paperwork. If unavailable, students must purchase a suitable laptop shipping box.
• Include the charger and cords; lost chargers must be replaced.
• Secure the laptop with packing materials and seal the box with packaging tape.
• Place the return shipping label over the original label and drop the package at ODU’s authorized carrier for shipment. *

Student Responsibilities
Students must:
1. Abide by ODU’s Information Technology Standards 09.1.0 and 02.13.0, and Code of Student Conduct.
2. Maintain active enrollment in the term for which the laptop is requested.
3. Be enrolled in a degree-seeking or certificate program.
4. Remain in good standing with the University.
5. Use the laptop only for ODU-related coursework and assignments.
6. Safeguard the laptop and prevent unauthorized use.
7. Maintain the laptop in good condition and report any damages or loss immediately to their ODU;
8. Complete and submit the Future Laptop Needs Form if they wish to keep the laptop for another semester.
9. Complete the Future Laptop Needs Form if they do not plan to enroll for the following semester.
10. Follow the return process as instructed by ODU. *

Loss, Theft, and Damage Policy
• If the laptop is lost, the student must report it immediately to ODU and may be responsible for replacement costs.
• If the laptop is stolen, the student must file a police report and submit documentation to ODU.
• If the laptop is damaged, students must report the damage to ODU and may be responsible for repair or replacement costs, up to the cost of the equipment, when purchased. *

Program Termination
• ODU reserves the right to terminate a student’s participation in the Program for violations of these terms.
• The Program may be modified or discontinued at ODU’s discretion. *

By borrowing a laptop, students acknowledge and agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions. Failure to comply may result in penalties, loss of borrowing privileges, or further disciplinary action.
