Old Dominion University Police and Public Safety officers may be required at your event to ensure the safety and security of the campus community. Police or security needs vary depending on the nature of the event — ranging from a brief security presence for a guest speaker to full coverage for larger gatherings such as athletic competitions, performing arts performances, road races, and VIP visits. If you are uncertain whether your event requires police or security services, please register it with ODU Police. ODU Police reserve the right to assess and determine the appropriate security requirements for any event held on campus. Associated costs are based on the assigned officers' overtime rate, with a three-hour minimum per officer. Please submit your completed application at least two weeks prior to your event, or a minimum of four weeks in advance for large-scale events.
