Readmission Application Deadlines
Fall Semester = 2nd Friday in August
Spring Semester = 3rd Friday in December
Summer Semester = 2nd Friday in April
Readmission requests received after the deadline will not be considered. Students must resubmit the application by the next deadline.
-
Select the semester you plan to return and enroll in classes at ODU. Your application will be considered for the term you select as long as your application was submitted by 11:59pm on the readmission deadline.

Example: Fall 2020

-
If you have only attended ODU, then leave this field blank or type "ODU only". Otherwise, please list the other school(s) you have attended, such as: Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach, VA, attended January 2019 to August 2019.
-
Academic Plan
The questions below are to help identify your academic success plan for returning to ODU. Your answers to these questions do not impact the readmission application decision. After you are readmitted, you must meet with an academic advisor to discuss your success plan further.
-
List your major during your last attended semester at ODU.
-
If you are not sure, you can write Undecided. If you are changing your major, write your NEW major.
-
Students are allowed up to 5 grade forgiveness attempts. ARC requires a one year break in enrollment to qualify. Please discuss these options with your advisor.
-
-
If you are returning under a different campus code, then please fill out the Campus Change form (link at the bottom of this form). For example, if you were attending in-person classes and living locally to the campus when you last attended ODU, but now you are returning as a ODUGlobal (completely online) student, then you would need to submit a Campus Change form after your readmission.
-
Conditions of Readmission to ODU
Read each statement below and check Yes to confirm you have read and understand.
-
I must sit out my suspension before I can return to ODU. *
For first academic suspension, students suspended at the end of the fall term must separate from the institution for spring term; students suspended at the end of the spring term must separate from the institution for summer and fall terms. Students on second suspension must separate for one calendar year. Students on a third (final) academic suspension are no longer eligible to apply for readmission.
-
My readmission application will be reviewed for the term I selected on this form. If I am admitted and do not enroll for the accepted term, then I must submit a new readmission application if I decide to return for a later term. *
Admittance is for the term you selected on the application. Readmission requests received after the deadline will not be considered. If you do not enroll for your readmitted term, you will need to resubmit the application.
-
Acceptance of my application does not guarantee eligibility for Financial Aid. *
Financial aid regulations require a 2.0 cumulative GPA and 67% pace. Most students returning after an academic suspension do not qualify for federal financial aid. In some cases, students may be eligible to submit an appeal. Consult with a financial aid counselor about your options.
-
Acceptance of my application does not automatically guarantee readmission to my desired major. *
Some majors have separate admission processes or major declaration requirements that must be met.
-
Upon readmission acceptance, I will immediately set up my ODU email account and check it regularly for university notifications. *
-
I must submit all official transcripts from institutions attended during my separation to the Office of Admissions for evaluation. If my separation has been for more than five years, I must submit all transcripts from all institutions I've ever attended. *
-
Returning students who have been separated from ODU for one calendar year or more must complete a new Application for In-State Tuition. Students in this category will be charged the out-of-state tuition rate when returning until the new domicile status is determined. *
-
I am required to have decided on a major before applying for readmission. If I do not know my major, I will schedule an advising appointment with the Advisor Support and Completion Initiatives Office by contacting advisor@odu.edu. *
-
With a cumulative GPA below 2.00, I am limited to a fall or spring semester enrollment of no more than 15 credits and a summer semester enrollment of no more than 6 credits in consultation with my Academic Advisor. *
-
I will attend all classes in which I am enrolled. I am responsible for dropping my classes if I decide not to return prior to the start of the semester. I understand that failure to drop my classes will result in tuition charges. *
-
It is assumed that I have reviewed the ODU Regulations for Academic Continuance and the conditions required to adjust my ODU GPA using the Adjusted Resident Credit Policy (ARC) and/or the Grade Forgiveness Policy (GFP). *
-
I must complete the Academic Continuance Experience for Success (ACES) online workshop prior to the first day of classes. I cannot register for ACES until I have registered in my other classes. To register for ACES, I will email advisor@odu.edu for instructions immediately after I am enrolled in courses. Otherwise, the Continuance Office will send an email to my ODU email account with instructions on how to register and complete the ACES workshop. Failure to participate in ACES may result in the cancellation of my enrollment. *
